We are thinking of moving to my hometown! I haven’t lived there for over 12 years and the death of my grandfather made me realize just how much I need to be home. My whole family lives there and I only get to see my immediate family once a month, sometimes 2 months. DH has his parents here and his brother/SIL/niece, so we’ll miss the frequent visits from them, but DH talked to my FIL about it and he thinks it’s a good idea. My hometown is a nice little town that has everything you’d need and I think it would be a great place for the kids to grow up. They could even be going to school with my nephews which Kristen is really excited about. Yes, I told her even if it isn’t official and she loves the idea! We just have to visit the bank to see what kind of mortgage we can get and if it’s enough to get a house there. If we continue to live here, we’ll be spending a LONG time in this duplex as we can’t afford anything more. In my hometown, houses are cheaper because they aren’t close to the city. DH says a lot of the time he isn’t working in the city anyway, so it doesn’t really matter if we live here or there. I am so excited! I don’t want to take Kristen out of school though, so we won’t move till school is out next year. Our realtor (a family friend) came over to check out the house yesterday and she said we won’t have a problem selling this house at all and will make a really good profit off of it, which in turn will be our down payment for the next house.
Yesterday I took Kaylee to Superstore to get the girls their outfits for their portrait session at the end of the month. I’ll be using the pics for our Christmas card this year. Here are the outfits. Aren’t they so cute? Little preppy girls. LOL
I had to exchange Kaylee’s dress today because it was a bit small and hard to pull over her head. So I went up 2 sizes and got the 4T. The 3T would’ve been best but now it’ll get worn for longer.

I’m not back up to the scrapping speed I was before, but at least I’m trying! Here’s 2 layouts I’ve done in the past few days.

For SSD’s From Our Blog 2 Yours for 10/9, Jaclyn wants to know what our ice cream personality is…I don’t think it got me right on a few things…I don’t have a one track mind (mulit-task ALL the time) nor am I dramatic and over the top.
Your Ice Cream Personality:
|
|

You like to think of yourself as a fairly modest person. And it’s true that you don’t talk yourself up… but you’re also pretty happy with who you are.You are a pretty cautious person. You look before you leap, and you don’t leap often. There’s a bit of a wild child within you, but it doesn’t get out often.
You are a fairly open minded person with a wide range of tastes. You are quite accepting of unusual ideas and people.
You tend to have a one track mind. You prefer not to multitask.
You can be a big dramatic and over the top sometimes. You are bold in every way.

I am having a sale on right now until tomorrow night!

Not compared to some bloggers, but for me, it’s been a while since I really blogged. I still think about my grandfather every day and will miss his hugs.

So I haven’t felt like scrapping much lately but I am getting back into it. I have 2 layouts to show you, both being for an SSD challenge. I only got 18 points last month but I am reaching for at least 30 this month!

Here are the last 2 From Our Blog 2 Yours quizzes! First, from the 9/25 challenge, they wanted to see how fast of a typist we all are. I thought I was faster than that, but I guess 51 wpm without any real training (besides forum surfing and chatting LOL) I think it’s pretty good.

Next, for the 10/2 challenge, Libby wants to know what our favorite fast food joint is. My favorite is McDonald’s, but I can usually find something that I like at any of the fast food places around here. I love to get a Big Mac meal with a chocolate shake! Yummmmm…

I think that’s it for me right now…I’ll see about making a new Cheaters Challenge soon!

My grandfather lost his 6 month battle with lung cancer in the early morning of September 19th. He will be forever missed by all who knew him. He was many things in this world…son, husband, friend, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, nephew, uncle, great-uncle…but he was more than just a title. He was a man that was worthy of envy. So many people would be lucky to be the person that he was. Always happy and energetic, my Grampie was a bright light in my life, although I never told anyone. I think about him all the time and hope that he is at peace now and will drop down from Heaven to visit us every once in a while. I miss you Grampie and always will.

DH’s staff party on Saturday was pretty fun! The weather wasn’t that great - drizzling a tiny bit, but there was a good turn out and there was face painting and a bouncy castle for the girls to do (although Kaylee didn’t want to do either). There was hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and the owner even brought it freshly made french fries from a chip wagon (20 boxes!). Kristen spent most of the time with a bunch of girls her age. She just loved her newly painted face and didn’t want to wash it off that night! LOL

Yesterday I got this gorgeous necklace in the mail. One of the women in my mommies group has breast cancer and one of the other members said she’d make a necklace for whoever wanted to buy one, in honor of Beth. The clear bead is for Beth and the 2 little pink ones are for her 2 children. I don’t normally wear much jewelry except for the stuff I never take off, but I couldn’t pass this up.

I only have one layout to show you right now. For some reason I haven’t scrapped much in the past few days. I am really pleased with how this turned out. I’ve had these pics for a while now and never got around to scrapping them, then I got the Beep Boop 2 scoops kit from Lauren & Kristin and the colors were almost perfect for them! I just had to darken the blues and reds a bit. I hope my FIL likes it! This is his plane that he built himself!

I’m starting to think about Christmas already…ways I can save money on gifts like Air Miles points can get me gift cards for some people, my Pampers points can get me 25 free photo cards, etc. What do you do during the holidays to save money on gifts? I already got my ILs present, but I can’t say what it is because my MIL reads this sometimes.

There’s a new Cheaters Challenge up in my Playroom at JLD! Check it out here! There’s a new incentive to do the challenge too…I will randomly draw 3 names for a $5 GC to my store for those who participate and post their links in the thread!

That’s it for me this beautiful fall day! (I know, technically it’s still summer, but it feels like fall!) It’s supposed to be generally nice up until at least October 1st. I’m happy about that for sure!
Have a great day!

It’s been a week since I last posted! Yikes! Monday I took Kaylee to get her 3rd year photos taken and she did really well! At first she didn’t want to be there and didn’t want to sit down, etc. but the photographer was really nice and got her to sit down on a little bench and got her to smile. We were out of there in about 10 minutes! That has NEVER happened before…Kaylee has always been difficult to get professional pics done. Like we’d spend an hour at the photographers and only get one semi-okay pose and she wouldn’t even be smiling. This one was great! I had 8 photos to choose 3 out of! Here’s the layout I did of the pics (which we got back the next day BTW…really quick turn around)

Tuesday marked our 8th anniversary (next years will be 09-09-09 & it’ll be our 9th anniversary…no wonder my favorite number is 9 LOL) Since I ordered 73 layouts from Scrapbook Pictures just last week, I told DH not to buy me anything. But he did buy me a really nice card! I got him a movie (Stargate: the extended edition) just because I ran across it in the grocery store the day before. I had bought him a new sheet set the week before so we really didn’t have a lot of money to spend on each other. We did get Chinese take-out though and it was really good. There was enough that I didn’t have to cook supper the next night either! Over all, it was a nice anniversary.

Here are some other layouts I’ve done in the past week:

There’s quite a few eh? LOL I seriously am starting to dwindle in the designing department. I’m having so much fun just scrapping! I need to get up a new Cheaters Challenge soon and maybe a new set of Scalloped Tomatoes too. Well see!

For SSD’s From Our Blog 2 Yours for 9/11, they asked us How Real Are You? Here are my results:
You Are 59% Real
|
|

You’re pretty real with people, but you can’t help hiding a good part of yourself. You’re not truly happy with who you are at times… and believe it or not, it shows.
Try not to hide parts of your life from the people who matter to you. Your friends and family are probably a lot more accepting than you realize! |

I guess that’s it from me! Tomorrow we’re going to my husband’s staff party at a park with games and food and I think the girls are getting a little gift too! Hope it’ll be fun!

Yep, Kristen is in 1st grade now! I don’t know how parents of more than one child do it on the first day of school…everything is confusing because you don’t know where to go or who the teacher is, etc. I can’t imagine having to get 2 or more kids to the right spots at the right time. I didn’t bring the camera to school, but here are a few pics of her I took in the morning.

This weekend there is an air show at the International Airport and yesterday they were doing a practice show at the military base that is just a few minutes away, so all the planes went over our house.
The airshow used to actually be at this base but moved to the airport a few years ago which was such a bummer. We loved having the planes going over our house and having helicopters flying over daily just isn’t the same. So, Kaylee and I went out on the deck and watched the planes and I took some pics. I don’t have a high zoom lens so they aren’t as close up as I would’ve liked to get.

This month I am a guest on MandaBean’s CT and yesterday I did my first layout for her using her 2 Scoops with Robin called Gitchy Gitchy. I know it’s not a new kit, but the colors fit the first day of school pics I wanted to scrap…well, the brown did…the red I had to recolor to pink.
Here is the layout I made, along with the layout using Misty’s new Richer kit that I’ve been sitting on for a few weeks, a pictrure of my husband at around 6 years old!

For SSD’s From Our Blog to Yours for 9/4, Libby asked us to do a Crayola Color Quiz! Here are my results:

Oh! Here’s a really funny FAIL for ya!

Alrighty, that’s it for me this weekend! We’re getting some remnants of Hurricane Hannah but it’s not supposed to be bad at all, just some rain..in this half of the province anyway.

So Kaylee’s 3rd birthday was yesterday. She is my big girl now! (besides not being potty trained yet) :) Saturday after I got up we got on the road to the Stanley Flying Club to go to their annual Fly-In (eating lunch from McD’s on the way) where DH’s parents are members and have a trailer where they stay when they’re up there. The Fly-In is a big 3 day affair with a yard sale, corn boil, auction, cake walk, bingo, candy drop from an airplane for the kids, watching planes take off and land, etc. It’s pretty fun! So we did some things and had a nice dinner with a little cake and sang happy birthday to Kaylee, then around 7 we left for my parents house which is an hour away.
We got to my parents around 8 and since the girls slept most of the way there, they weren’t sleepy enough to go right to bed. Kristen went down at 9pm and Kaylee didn’t end up going to sleep until 10pm. They both woke up by 6:30am the next morning anyway. Why won’t these kids sleep in?? LOL
Saturday Kaylee had her party which was really fun. She was SO excited as this was her first real birthday party. She got some great presents and she especially loves her 3-wheel scooter from us (even though I have to go exchange it because the rear axle is broken), her Dora Cuddle ‘n Care dolls and the Enchanted DVD she got. She keeps going around saying “my birtday in Setember”
Click on the pics to go to a larger version.

So, here are a few layouts I’ve done in the past week.

I made a set of desktops for Misty using a kit that she has coming out on Saturday. Go to her blog to get these!

For SSD’s From Our Blog 2 Yours for 8/28, Meg wants to know how well we spell:

Your spelling is excellent.
You don’t fall for common spelling pitfalls, and you spell almost everything correctly.

I think that’s it for me this time! Be back again tomorrow maybe…it’s the first day of school so I’m sure I’ll have pics to show!

My burn hurts now…just the slightest touch hurts. Ugh! I’m going to have some nice peeling skin in a few days.
So the cat is still hanging around. All the shelters around here are full and I don’t want to post pics on telephone poles and such to find the owner…so I guess it can hang around here if it wants to, but we aren’t feeding it or bringing it inside, no matter how much it meows at the door! It was laying on my chest when I was sitting outside today and then I remembered…fleas! I checked through it’s fur a bit and I did see one, so off it went and I told the girls not to pick it up again. I do NOT want fleas in the house!

Here are a few more layouts to show!

So I went back to the clinic today to get my urine checked again. I thought maybe because it had been less than a day off the antibiotics when I last had it checked that that is why it was negative for bacteria. So…I still don’t have a UTI but she said maybe because I’ve been off the antibiotics for almost a week it might show something, if there is anything to show. (I REALLY hope something shows on the culture!) Otherwise, I think I am looking at a mild case of IC. I’m glad it’s not worse…some people have to go to Pain Management because it hurts so much…I’d go crazy for sure.
Okay, that’s it from me! Just a short one today!

So, to fill you in on what’s been going on with me since last week…my UTI didn’t go away and I got my urine sent to be cultured on Tuesday. The doctor said if they find anything in it, they’ll call me within 2-3 days. If not, they won’t call and I might have something called Interstitial Cystitis. That doesn’t sound fun at all. So, since Tuesday I have been dealing with the need to pee and a bit of burning ALL the time. I haven’t felt like being online or scrapping and I’ve been going to bed earlier than usual just to get away from the feelings. I don’t wake up at night to use the bathroom and that is a Godsend I think. Anyway, I have a doctor’s app’t on Sept.5th to get a referral to a urologist and we’ll go from there with testing and such. My body just loves having problems…IBS, UTI’s, kidney stones, hives, etc. I’m so tired of being sick and having chronic annoyances all the time.
We had our annual street yard sale today. Not a whole lot of people did it, but in the spur of the moment this morning when I couldn’t sleep, I decided we should lug everything out that we wanted to sell. didn’t sell a whole lot…a toddler chair, baby gate, a baby outfit and a CD, but, it’s $18 more than we had this morning! I’m going to put a bunch of stuff on Kijiji (like Craig’s List) and see if anything will sell there. And umm…I got pretty burnt sitting outside for so long. I did put sunscreen on, but forgot to put it on my chest since I was wearing a V-neck t-shirt. It doesn’t feel as bad as it looks, which is good. It’s just a bit warm.
We have had a kitten hanging around our yard since yesterday. Kristen wants to keep it and she keeps playing with it and then her friends brought over some of their cat food to feed it…nice. We don’t WANT a cat right now! It’s really cute and friendly, but we just don’t want one…so now I gotta post places to see if anyone lost it. I hope someone calls soon!

Anyway, I did scrap a few pages since the last time I posted but one I can’t post because the challenge isn’t up on La’s blog till Monday.

For SSD’s From Our Blog 2 Yours for 8/21, they wanted to know “who we were in high school”…yeah, I was the arty kid although I wasn’t a drama freak or an emo poet.
You Were the Arty Kid

Whether you were a drama freak or an emo poet, you definitely were expressive and unique.
You’re probably a little less weird these days - but even more talented!

That’s it for me…dunno when I’ll blog again, but you’ll be the first to know if I do!

August 18th, 2008
Okay, so I wasn’t bored on Thursday like I thought I was going to be. It was a wonderfully peaceful day then and on Friday too. DH and I went out to East Side Marios for supper then I had enough time before the mall closed to grab Breaking Dawn from Zellers for $18. The cashier (a teenaged boy) said “We have this here? I didn’t know we had good books here…” LOL
Friday I got up at 9:30 and went to the mechanics to get our oil changed. I didn’t mind that at all because I had my Breaking Dawn to read. :) Then I went shopping at WalMart and got the rest of Kristen’s school clothes and school supplies. So I read half of BD on Friday (with no TV on or nuthin’…was SO nice!) And when DH came home from work, we decided to have spaghetti for supper and literally 10 seconds after I put the pasta in the water…the power went out. Ugh. Turns out there was some sort of car/truck accident or something that took down the power line because soon after the power went out, we could hear the sirens wailing. So, we ended up having BBQ’d burgers and a Caesar salad instead. Turned out great! The power was out for just a little over an hour so it wasn’t too bad. That night I started feeling like I had to pee a lot so I left DH a note (he was already in bed when I turned in) saying that he couldn’t leave in the morning until I went to the clinic to find out if I had a bladder infection or not. Turns out I did and the doctor gave me 3 extended release antibiotic pills. I have one left but am still feeling the infection so I might have to go back tomorrow to tell them 3 days wasn’t enough. I hope not though. So I spent the rest of Saturday feeling miserable and tired because I didn’t sleep well the night before. I finished reading Breaking Dawn by about 6:30 then scrapped a page.
Sunday I woke up at about 10:30 then got to cleaning some more…was in the middle of sweeping when DH brought the girls home. About 4 hours earlier than I’d expected, and within 1 minute, everyone was cranky and annoying. So there went my peaceful weekend. At least the girls slept in some this morning until 7:15am.

I am in the Designer Spotlight this week at Oscraps! Check it out here!

Layout sharing!

For SSD’s From Our Blog to Yours for August 14th, Angela asks what American accent we have. Since I don’t live in the US I don’t have an accent (;)) but I did the quiz anyway.
| What American accent do you have?
Your Result: North Central
“North Central” is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw “Fargo” you probably didn’t think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.
